In the summer of 2017, I researched and wrote thematic resources for Educart.ca, a unique educational website from the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Using objects from the museum’s collection as starting points for discussion, it incorporates learning objectives from every discipline in Quebec’s high-school curriculum.

The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts Launches an ambitious interdisciplinary digital education platform co-created with high school teachers
Montreal, QC– The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) is proud to announce EducArt.ca, an innovative digital platform that was developed for teachers and which is now being launched across Quebec. Thanks to this online educational tool — which features 350 artworks from the Museum’s encyclopedic collection — teachers and students aged 12 to 17 will have a chance to enrich their studies in various subjects, from social studies to math and everything in between. Free to use, the bilingual platform is tailored to various levels and subjects in the high school curriculum, and its activities are directly harmonized with the Quebec Education Program.
The MMFA collection is unique in Canada. It incorporates world cultures, the decorative arts and design, Québecois and Canadian art, and international art from the past and present. EducArt.ca provides a multidisciplinary cross-reading, spanning 17 themes that address contemporary social issues. It does so through the lens of personal development (Ethics and Religious Culture), language arts (French and English), mathematics, science and technology (biology, chemistry, and physics), social studies (history and geography), and of course, the arts (visual arts, music, dance, and drama).
Throughout the program’s development, the EducArt.ca platform was evaluated by teachers who were led by a committee of education and teaching experts from Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) and Université Laval.
